Designing your own beach towel can an incredible pastime. Besides, you can also make them as gift items. Be it birthdays, anniversaries, or weddings, and these towels are fun and creative.

To share some ideas on how you can design your own beach towel, simply follow the steps below:

1. Prepare the Materials

To make an embroidered beach towel, you will need a beach towel, 2.5-ounce cutaway stabilizer, water-soluble stabilizer, temporary adhesive, and an air-erase marking pen.

2. Choose Your Design

If you use a beach towel that is made of terry cloth material, make sure to choose a design or name text with solid fills. Make sure to avoid designs or text names with delicate or light stitches because they will not be visible in the terry cloth texture.

3. Wash and Dry the Beach Towel

Before you start embroidering, make sure to wash and dry the beach towel. Mind that terry cloth is cotton. This means that the material is prone to shrinkage.

4. Arrange the Template

Use a template to plan where to stitch. Arrange it on the towel and mark the center placement lines.

5. Spray the Cutaway Stabilizer

Spray the cutaway stabilizer together with the temporary adhesive. Next is to smooth the towel on top. Then, use the water-soluble stabilizer as this keeps stitches from sinking into the fabric.

6. Hoop the Layers Together

When hooping all three layers together, make sure to line the marks on the beach towel with the marks on the hoop. Then, attach the hoop to your embroider machine.

7. Embroider the Design

Use 75/11 or size 11 sharp embroidery or sewing needle for best results. After embroidering, tear the water-soluble stabilizer. Use a paper towel or damp sponge to remove any remaining pieces away from the top.

8. Trim Away the Cutaway Stabilizer from the Back

When you trim the cutaway stabilizer away from the back of the towel, make sure to leave about 1/2 inch around the text name or design.
